Dear Maynard Community, Given the recent COVID19 exposure, I want to thank you for your understanding concerning the cancellation of the in-person graduation. Please know it was an incredibly difficult decision for everyone involved. Furthermore, we have followed the proper protocols including communication with the board of health. As stated earlier, under law the Maynard Public Schools cannot in any way reveal the individual or individuals involved with this matter and the Maynard Board of Health is charged with additional follow-up on this matter. On behalf of myself, administration and the school committee we wish those directly involved a speedy and uneventful recovery. We are using this incident to inform our discussions and plans for the re-opening of schools for 2020-2021. We recognize that the health and safety of our community, our children and staff are a priority right now. We will be sharing a detailed plan later this week that meets the requirements for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the needs of the Maynard community. Stay Strong, Brian Haas, Superintendent

Good afternoon- It is with deep regret that we must inform you at this late hour that this evening’s Graduation Ceremony is cancelled due to information we received a short time ago related to a Positive COVID 19 case within the community. The circumstances of the case are such that the potential risk of further community spread is significant and as such a large gathering cannot be held. Under law the Maynard Public Schools cannot in any way reveal the individual or individuals involved with this matter and the Maynard Board of Health is charged with additional follow-up on this matter. The Class of 2020 and their families have endured many disappointments this school year and this news is a heavy blow to bear. Given the health risks involved, however, we have no alternative. Please know that we wish every member of the Class of 2020 nothing but the best and our hearts are quite heavy as we send this message. Best regards to all. Sincerely & respectfully, Brian Haas Chuck Caragianes Superintendent of Schools Principal of Maynard High School
