Opportunities to Host Foreign Exchange Students

In 2010 the community of Maynard had the extraordinary opportunity to host 9 students from China for 10 days. We have just been notified that we will have the same opportunity again. The students are tentatively scheduled to arrive on Monday January 23rd for a week. During the day the students will attend school at the high school. During the week the high school will organize 2 or 3 field trips for the exchange students and the host students. If you are interested in hosting a student please contact Dr. Chesson at the high school at lchesson@maynard.k12.ma.us or 978-897-8891 before the Christmas break.

Academic Achievement

There are many studies that show that participation in school sports programs improves academic achievement.   The new Cooperative Football Program with the communities of Maynard and Harvard was a resounding success.  In order to offer more athletic programs, we are exploring additional cooperative programs.

Bromfield will be the host of a cooperative program in Lacrosse and has invited Maynard to be the guest. They have filed the paperwork with MIAA.  The MIAA officials will be meeting to approve cooperative programs is in January 2012.

In addition, this winter one of our students was offered an invitation to participate on the swimming and diving team through the Nashoba Regional Swimming Club.  She is already competing interscholastically and yesterday took first place in their first diving competition.  This will qualify her for the state meet.
