Zoë Berkley-Cramer – (Maynard High School Student)

Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small, and often very sick. One in every eight infants is born premature and the highest percentage of infant fatalities is due to premature birth.  My name is Zoë Berkley-Cramer and I’m a senior at Maynard High School.  This cause is really important to me.  As part of my Senior Project, I have spent my semester researching nurturing and bonding in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and I have seen how important organizations like March of Dimes are to the health and survival of infants.

On March 8th, the Bruins are playing a “Bruins for Babies Game”, an event to raise awareness and funds for the March of Dimes. I will be raffling off 2 tickets to the game!  For a chance to win your way in to the sold out Bruins game, please purchase raffle tickets on one of the following dates:

MHS STUDENTS AND PARENTS:  I will be selling tickets during lunch at Maynard High School from February 6th -  9th  and 13th - 16th.
FOWLER STUDENTS AND PARENTS: I will be selling tickets during lunch at Fowler Middle School on February 10th  and 17th.
ADDITIONAL TICKET SALES: I will also be selling raffle tickets Monday-Friday (February 6th -10th  and 13th -17th ) at Maynard High School from 2:00-3:00 p.m.

Academic Achievements

The Senior Projects that our students are working on are amazing.  In the announcement above, Zoë Berkley-Cramer demonstrates the quality career and college readiness that Maynard High School is providing its students.  I followed the links to her project web site and to her portfolio that she provided in the announcement above.  I was extremely impressed.  When I was in high school, I didn’t even have a portfolio.  It is wonderful that we are providing such an outstanding education for the children of Maynard!

Sincere Acknowledgements

The Maynard Education Foundation

The Maynard School Department appreciates all that the Maynard Education Foundation (MEF) does for our school system. When the Taste of Maynard information was sent to me, the following paragraph was also sent.  I think it is important to note, that they are also focused on preparing students for the challenges of the twenty-first century.

The Maynard Education Foundation’s mission is to financially support innovation in teaching for Maynard educators.  Our goal is to create funds that will allow MEF to provide annual grants to teaching professionals.  As we begin our 12th year, we have raised over $200,000 and have awarded grants totaling in excess of $140,000 to Maynard educators.  These grants have been utilized for Innovation and Discovery endeavors that benefit Maynard children in the classroom. We specifically look for grants that will not only benefit the immediate children within a specific class, but will become self-sustaining and benefit a much broader audience for years to come.  It is crucial that our students be supported to increase their competitive advantage so they are prepared for the challenges of the twenty-first century.
